WHY THE DIFFERENT RATINGS?
Welcome to our website on movie reviews. On the following pages, you will find five different movies that are rated one, two, three, four, or five stars. We based the ratings in relation to the movies that were reviewed by our exemplary staff. For example, out of the five movies reviewed, we believe that The Roommate deserved the one star spot out of the five movies reading into the review will give more details about the general plot of the film and how the film relates to the intended audience. Each of these movies represents a general college issue that is prevalent in today's college society. We chose these movies based on the fact that they occur during or around colleges. This way, we can analyze the movie and determine the college issue portrayed within the movie. The Roommate, for example, portrays issues such as safety awareness, sexuality, trust, dealing with strangers, and fitting into a new social situation. Pitch Perfect deals with gender roles, stereotyping, and being an outcast, while Drum line focuses on sticking together with peers to help succeed in college. Other movies being reviewed include, The House Bunny. This film discusses social issues such as being true to oneself, social norms, determination, and persistence. Another highly rated movie, Real Genius, highlights adapting to new social situations, finding where one fits in, and the rigor of college and higher level education as a whole. The movie reviews provided on this website hope to serve as general, opinionated write-ups that focus on these specific college issues outlined above. In writing these reviews each student aimed to discuss, in detail, the overall effectiveness of the issues it portrays and to provide a wholesome and complete review of the movie and how the issues regarding college and/or higher education are accurately, or not accurately, portrayed. The movies cover the comedy, scary, and drama genres. Even the comedy and horror movies had underlying messages that represented college issues.
